and welcome to all those new friends who have come on board since last time.

I seem to get later each month getting this out to you - sorry!

Last week I received in the mail a reminder that it was time for me to go for another Mammogram. I had decided a couple of years ago that I was not going to submit myself to that indignity again after reading a few articles stating that the breast screening process probably did more harm than good. Hey presto the timely arrival of this article which appeared in my inbox from!

"Mammograms Don't Help, They Harm Women"

Here is just a small part of what Jo Hartley (the writer of the article) had to say. You can read the complete article here.

"Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women.

Many women depend on an annual mammogram to diagnose breast cancer. Recent studies show, however, that an annual mammogram may actually increase your risk of developing breast cancer from 1 to 3 percent. This is because the breast is one of the parts of the body most sensitive to radiation exposure."

"Since mammograms were introduced, the occurrence of a form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) has increased by over 300%. Two hundred percent of this increase is thought to be due to mammography."

I think I'll stand by my decision to forget the mammogram.

Isn't it amazing how things happen? I had just written this piece about mammograms when along came this light hearted look at mammograms in the form of an email.

Thanks Shirley.

I have been reading a lot about the quality, or not, of water recently especially as our 'water treatment system' just decided to 'give up the ghost' after many years.

Along came this week's EClub News from Phillip Day with an interesting article about High Blood Pressure and the role played by water in its treatment.

I was very interested to read what he had to say - especially as I had paid a rare visit to a GP last week (only because I thought I had been bitten by a spider or some such - it turned out I have shingles - not very pleasant, and hence the lateness of this newsletter). The GP was more concerned because my blood pressure was high and, of course, prescribed some drugs for me.

The article is a bit long to include here so I have added it to my website so that you can read what he had to say if you are interested.

believe it or not, I received in the same week by mail a 'Healthy Water Report' from WellnessŪ.

Because water is so very important to our health, the very essence of life, here are some excerpts from that report.

"We all know that we should be drinking at least eight glasses of water every day. But ... this could be the WORST thing we can do!

Our water is being polluted like never before with new exotic chemicals, even drugs, being found for the very first time in many water supplies.

For almost 100 years, chlorine has been added to disinfect our municipal water supply. The level of chlorine in your area depends on the quality of your water supply, but even if there's no noticeable taste or smell, the chlorine is present, as are the by-products of chlorination, which include some of the most potent carcinogens known to man.

Research conducted jointly at Harvard University and the Medical College of Wisconsin indicated that drinking chlorinated water may be linked with an increased incidence of bladder and rectal cancers."

Read more from this report here.

"It is clear that we should 'Buy a Filter' or 'Be a Filter'.

Water is the Path to Wellness. It promotes detoxification, enhances nutritional uptake and ensures optimal hydration.

While it is certainly reasonable to believe that bottled water provides a reasonably healthy alternative to tap water there are many reasons to think again. Aside from the environmental problems surrounding the production and disposal of plastic water bottles and the cost involved, the results of four recent studies into the effect of Bisphenol-A (BPA) reveal what many leading edge health researchers have known for years - the chemicals in plastic water bottles are closely associated with birth defects, obesity, diabetes and cancer."

You have probably received one of the emails recently warning of the dangers of drinking from your water bottle if it is left in your vehicle and becomes heated.

Keep watching the Wellness Choices blog for more information about choosing the right filter and why the WellnessŪ filter is considered to be the world's leading natural filtration and enhancement technology.

I'll leave you with this image - someone may be able to help me find a mirror like this.

"Chlorinated water can destroy nutrients your body needs, such as Vitamin A, B, C and E and fatty acids. Some chronic skin conditions like eczema, acne and psoriasis may clear up or improve by simply switching to unchlorinated drinking water."
Please continue to share this Choose Wellness Newsletter with your family, friends and business associates - the more the merrier!

I welcome your questions, comments or requests so please contact me if you have anything you'd like to contribute or any questions.

Until then keep well and remember
