All the time we hear things like:

• "Money is the root of all evil."
• "Don't be greedy."
• "Money can't buy happiness."

and ... how many times have you thought to yourself... "If only I had more money, all my problems would be solved?"

I don't think that it's the money that is the 'root of all evil' – more likely, 'the lack of it'.

Being short of money or suffering from a 'lack of money' causes many problems in our society. It certainly does nothing for your wellbeing or sense of worth if you are constantly worrying about 'how to pay the bills' or 'where the next dollar is coming from'.

Money, or lack of it, has been the cause of much stress and many broken marriages.

According to the Louis Harris Poll (1992) in the US, 96% of the public lie awake at night worrying about two issues:

• health issues – either some member of the family, a friend, or their own
• financial issues – having enough to pay the bills and to live the lifestyle we deserve

We were taught – in the 'old' days – to work hard, get a good job and you would be assured of a secure future.

But, a lot of things have changed since then. There is no longer the same job security – and people seem to be working longer and longer hours, with less time for recreation and fun. It is becoming more and more common, and, in fact, necessary, for people to work a second job or to set up a 'work from home' business. There are so many opportunities available to people today to do just that. The Internet has opened up the world to so many opportunities, not all of them good. We are hit from all directions with offers of 'how to make our fortune' etc. etc. I'll talk now about just a couple of opportunities that I would not hesitate to recommend.

Many people, who start off with the idea of making some extra money 'on the side' from home, soon find that they have a substantial 'money earner' happening, and it becomes their main source of income. How great if you can develop your 'hobby or interest' in to a means of providing some real income!
